Kidz Kan Fly's mission is to expose underserved, underprivileged youth to local and international travel for cultural and educational purposes.
We seek to expose students to new environments, ideas, and opportunities that they may not otherwise have access to in an effort to create an advantage for them and increase their probability of success.
Our primary goals are:
To provide access – We aim to offer travel experiences to youth who might not otherwise have the opportunity.
To educate – Each trip is designed to teach participants about history, culture, politics, and the arts.
To inspire growth – By exposing students to new places and perspectives, we help them develop confidence, adaptability, and a global mindset.
To build community – We encourage teamwork, leadership, and relationship-building among participants.
To create future opportunities – Our experiences help students expand their vision for their future, including higher education and career possibilities.
Success is measured by the impact our program has on participants and the increased knowledge they obtain as we learn about various cultures and locations. We track student growth through pre- and post-trip reflections, community engagement, and long-term achievements, such as increased confidence, expanded career aspirations, and continued involvement in cultural and educational opportunities.
Each participant will complete a project throughout the course of the program to materialize their experience and what they've learned.
Kids Kan Fly selects participants based on their demonstrated need for the opportunities we provide. Our goal is to help those who could benefit the most from educational and cultural travel experiences. We use a point system to evaluate each applicant's eligibility.
Our point system is designed to prioritize applicants based on various factors including but not limited to:
Financial Need (e.g., household income, access to resources)
Adversity & Hardships – We recognize that personal challenges and life circumstances can impact a student's opportunities. We consider students who have overcome significant hardships or are facing difficult situations that make access to experiences like this especially meaningful.
Personal Statement (e.g., reasons for wanting to participate) Applicants share their reasons for wanting to participate, what they hope to gain from the experience, and how they plan to apply what they learn.
